About the M5 550 Electric Helicopter
Frame
The M5 is built around a lightweight, rigid carbon fiber frame with chamfered lower panels and a CNC-machined aluminum main plate. It's designed for 15mm servos and features integrated wiring paths, a modular servo rack, and quick-release latches for both the canopy and battery tray, making setup and maintenance simple and efficient.
Rotor & Tail System
Inspired by the M7, the M5's rotor head uses a 12mm main shaft and 5mm ball joints for precise, responsive control. The tail system includes a compact, one-piece housing with a slop-free bell crank and a 6mm shaft, delivering dependable yaw authority through a 28mm carbon boom. Dynamic tail weights help reduce servo load in flight.
Drivetrain
The M5 uses a 115T main gear and supports a wide range of pinion options from 11 to 15 teeth, allowing flexible gearing for different flying styles. The motor mount rides on rails for perfect gear mesh every time. A large battery bay fits 6-12S packs, and the quick-release tray system is shared with the M6, offering easy swaps and compatibility.
